Headaches in children and adolescents — what is normal, and when should you take action?

Around 55,000 children in Denmark live with migraines. In addition, many others regularly experience tension headaches.

When headaches become recurring, they often affect school attendance, leisure activities, and social relationships. The two most common types of headaches in children and adolescents are migraines, which affect approximately 7% of children between the ages of 6 and 17, and tension headaches, which up to one in five school-aged children experience regularly.
